Compartmentalized lunchbox: organize your meals, separate your foods, simplify your daily routine

The compartmented lunch box meets a very specific need: carrying several different foods without them mixing or absorbing each other’s flavors. One protein on one side, vegetables on the other, a sauce in its separate small container — each food arrives exactly as you prepared it. It is the natural choice for those who like to put together varied, balanced meals without sacrificing portability. If you're looking for a classic lunch box without compartments, also find our lunchbox collection to compare all of our models.

Compartments or tiers: which organization should you choose?

Compartment lunch boxes come in two main families. Models with compartments built into a single tray — often 2 or 3 sections separated by dividers — offer a compact footprint and easy handling. Multi-tier meal boxes, also called 2-tier or 3-tier lunch boxes, stack separate levels on top of each other: each tier is a fully sealed container, which increases total capacity without taking up more counter space. This size is especially popular for full meals — appetizer, main course, dessert — or for people who need to carry generous portions. For Japanese meals in a structured format, our bento collection also offers tiered boxes in a very similar approach to organization.

Which size fits your appetite and your use?

A 2-compartment model is perfect for separating the main dish and side in a compact space, ideal for small kitchens or limited bags. The 3-compartment versions let you add a third section for dessert, salad, or sauce. 2-tier boxes offer total capacity of around a liter, while 3-tier models can exceed 1.5 liters for bigger appetites. In any case, check microwave compatibility if you want to reheat food directly in the box, and dishwasher compatibility to make everyday cleaning easier.

Healthy, BPA-free materials suited to every use

Our compartment lunchboxes are offered in BPA-free plastic, stainless steel, and glass depending on the model. BPA-free plastic is the lightest and most affordable choice, perfect for everyday use on the go. Stainless steel offers greater durability and better retains temperature. Glass lets you reheat directly in the microwave without transferring odors or affecting flavor — a welcome plus for meals prepared the day before. Whatever your preference, all of these formats are found in our complete collection of meal containers if you want to broaden your comparison.

Care for your compartment lunchbox

Most of our models are dishwasher safe, which makes daily care much easier. For stacked lunch boxes, remember to take apart each level and hand wash the seals in warm water to preserve their effectiveness over time. Dry each compartment well before closing the box to help prevent odors from developing. With the right habits, your compartment lunchbox will stay clean, airtight, and ready to use for years.
